NLMK GROUP OFFERS HOT-ROLLED FLAT STEEL, INCLUDING HIGH-STRENGTH GRADES FOR APPLICATIONS IN MACHINE-BUILDING

Product description

01

NLMK’s rolled products for general applications

The base grade is 08ps steel as per GOST 1050

General-purpose products are made from low-carbon grades. They can be used in heavy-duty load-bearing frames or in face surfaces. The base grade in this category (08ps) is considered to be among the softest steels and is suitable for stamping, bending of profiles and shapes of relatively high complexity.

02

Steel products from drawing

The base grade is 08Yu as per GOST 9045

Hot-rolled flats from drawing are highly ductile, primarily due to the low mass content of carbon (C ≤0.06% in steel for drawing; C ≤0.05% in specially deoxidised steel) and the low content of certain alloying elements. These steels are intended for manufacture of complex shaped parts and high-extrusion parts.
This category of products can be made using the technology of hot-rolling — pickling — skin passing. This achieves metal properties similar to those of cold-rolled steel but at a lower cost.

03

Hot-rolled steel of strength classes 300 and 430 MPa

The base grades are 10 and 20 as per GOST 1050

These are high-quality structural carbon steels that are highly processable and weldable. This steel is recommended for shaped products and applications in mechanical engineering parts operated under relatively light loads. It is also suitable for manufacturing very thin parts that are subject to abrasion. The steel products without heat treatment are used in crane hooks and parts exposed to pressure and temperatures from −40 to +450 degrees Celcius.

04

Hot-rolled steel of strength classes 350, 400 and 450 MPa

The base grades are St2sp and St3sp as per GOST 380

These are carbon steel grades. The increasing strength in each successive tier is achieved by higher content of main alloying elements, carbon and manganese. For St3Gps, manganese content can be as high as 1.10%, bringing it closer to the alloyed grade. These grades are also available in a semi-killed, less deoxidised form with a lower silicon content. This steel is used in railcar manufacturing, as well as in the production of load-bearing elements of welded and non-welded fabrications, and components that operate in temperatures above zero. Performance characteristics of St3Gps grade make it suitable for load-bearing elements of welded structures under alternating loads and at temperatures from −20 to +400 °C.

05

Hot-rolled steel of strength class 500 MPa

The base grade is 17GS

Unalloyed silicon and manganese steel is used for various welded structures designed to operate under adverse conditions: at high pressure and temperatures ranging from −40 to +450 °C. The high content of alloying elements (Mn content is up to 1.60%, Si — up to 0.60%) results in high strength and performance.

This steel meets the standard requirements on impact toughness under temperatures from 0 to −70 °C.

06

High-yield strength micro-alloyed steel grades, EN 10149-2 compliant

This steel was designed for cold forming and bending. Micro alloying with V, Nb and Ti forms a microstructure that combines high strength and the ability to take complex shapes without fracturing. These grades are essential in passenger car making, wh ere they are mostly used in structural elements, as well as parts reliable for human safety and reliability (spars, beams, levers, etc.). NLMK offers a wide range of grades: from S315MC to S500MC, and is capable of producing S600MC and S700MC.
